Winter Solstice

Did you ever wonder why the days are so long in the summer and so short in the winter? The length changes throughout the year. In the summer, around December 21 or 22, we experience the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year. And in the winter, June 21 or 22 is the winter solstice, or shortest day.

But wait! If you live in England, you experience the opposite—the longest day is in June and the shortest is in December. Why? Learn how the angle of the Earth's tilt and how orbiting the sun determines when the different seasons occur around the world.

This Clever Little Cooks Project includes recipes for 2 winter warmers, so put on your flannelette pajamas and snuggle up with us. We are making a variation on a muffin and a crumble with Crumbled Pear Muffins and a good old Cheesy Lasagne. There are 2 craft activities using wool involving weaving and making great finger knitted bracelets.
